Neck pain is frequently caused by misaligned vertebrae in the neck (subluxation) causing pinching or irritation to the nerves that exit the spine. This can result in neck stiffness due to limited motion in the joints, uneven weight bearing on the discs between the vertebrae compromising integrity, and tension in the muscles of the neck and upper back area.

In many instances, subluxations are caused by either the cumulative effect of many smaller things such as sleeping in an abnormal position, poor posture (i.e. poor workstation ergonomics, slouching, excessive electronic device use, etc.), and repetitive motions or bigger incidents such as falls, sports injuries or whiplash. Subluxations in the neck can also lead to headaches (even migraines) as well as radiating pain, weakness, or numbness and tingling in the shoulders, arms, and hands.

Neck pain should not be ignored. Ninety percent of the messages the brain sends to the body travel through the neck, making it the most important part of the spine to stay healthy. Chiropractic care provides a safe, non-invasive, non-addictive alternative to prescription medications or over-the-counter pain medications (OTCs), which are commonly prescribed to patients to help them manage their pain.

In the office, patients are assessed with a thorough health history, orthopedic and neurologic exam, and x-rays if needed. The doctor reviews results then presents the findings and recommendations and correction of the cause of symptoms as well as answers any questions. The doctor then provides a safe, gentle, effective spinal adjustments to correct subluxations. The end result is pain relief, subluxation correction, and improved quality of life.
